autoconf >= 2.64 was broken when /bin/sh is symlinked to dash. This has been fixed post-2.65 by the commit at http://git.savannah.gnu.org/cgit/autoconf.git/commit/?id=7f75858f577f11a844781764f30cd42cfe8a5669. Compared to the original patch, the patch included in Buildroot manually does the change to the ./configure script itself. Now that the previous commit implemented a generic package infrastructure, we make the autotools infrastructure inherit from the generic one so that the code is not duplicated. The new AUTOTARGETS macro works by defining what should be done at the configure, build and install steps of a package and then calls the GENTARGETS macro of the generic package infrastructure. 2009-12-15Add generic package infrastructureThomas Petazzoni
This new infrastructure allows to write simpler .mk files for packages not using the autotools as their build system, by factorizing many common steps (download, extract, patching), and will more easily allow Buildroot-wide changes in how the packages are handled. The main macro is called GENTARGETS and works similarly to the AUTOTARGETS macro that already exists for autotools-based packages.
